The second-generation Military 2 enhances the venerable Military model with the addition of a high-strength Compression Lock mechanism and the versatility of a four-position pocket clip. This expression of it raises the bar even higher with a blade crafted from Spyderco's proprietary CPM SPY27 steel. Starting with the time-tested alloy formula of VG-10 stainless steel, SPY27 increases the volumes of carbon, molybdenum, and vanadium and adds niobium and nitrogen. Crucible Industries' state-of-the-art particle metallurgy manufacturing process then ensures a uniform distribution of these alloys throughout the steel. The result is an extremely homogenous microstructure that maximizes the steel's edge holding, toughness, and corrosion resistance. To further distinguish this knife as a member of Spyderco's elite SPY27 family, its handle features peel-ply-textured G-10 scales in a signature cobalt-blue color.
